Isnt this new Space debris going to cause big problems for observation too?

Surely all these radars etc are going to pick up a load of bad signals/false images

They'll pick up signals, but they won't be bad or false, as everyone knows the trajectory of this debris.

It depends on the parts trajectory. Some will burn up quite safely in the atmosphere. this might take a while with a slow spiral as it circles Earth.
