Euro plugs instead of UK plugs?

Anyone getting annoyed by the amount of 2pin plug cables for things now? I Ordered a edimax 5 port switch through amazon(seller or something ) and it arrived today and i only just found out that its a fking 2pin plug!. I need a 3pin plug(cause im in england lol) and i had this switch before so i know its not the uk version(as some do a general 2pin plug), emailed amazon but it needs to be useable within this week so can i request them sending me out a replacement first or even just a cable?.

I have a box of 2 pin kettle leads (about 20 > 30 of them) from recent purchases.

I contacted each retailer and asked that they send me UK plugs. I believe there's some bit of legislation that states an item shipped in the UK must come with a 3 pin plug - but don't quote me on that.

Surely it's a 10 minute job to snip off the end and put a 3 pin UK plug on?

Regardless - they should be sending you the proper plug in the first place!

Not if you dont have a spare , not really the point though as its brand new and shouldnt be sold to uk with a 2pin plug.

Also cant just snip off the plug if its a transformer plug Had some of those come through with various switches I've bought from different places. I just couldnt be bothered to wait that long to have the UK version sent to me, so normally just pop down to the local hardware store and buy a supply down there for a fiver.

Ive also had american style plugs sent to me before with laptop PSUs.

That could be quite annoying. Unless it's a shaver - always funny to read the complaints that they don't come with a 'uk plug'

they are quite useful if ever you find urself abroad, i keep a figure of 8 and a cloverleaf just for that.

If nothing else, I'd argue that the device isn't "fit for purpose" under the Sales of Goods Act, as you can't plug it in to test it. There's also I believe an EU regulation that states all electrical products must be supplied with a moulded plug suitable for the country of supply. What many EU manufacturers will do is either a) produce a UK only lead or b) simply mould a 2 pin to 3 pin adataptor on (such as the Wii)

if it wasnt for all this political correct bollox, products would still ship with bare cables so you put your own plug on, i remember the good old days of getting home then having to go borrow the plug off the iron to get the product working

Pollitcal correctness has nothing to do with it! It's down to simple safety and keeping people alive who either a) can't wire a damned plug, b) think they can but can't

Well the amazon market place seller replied to me today(quick really). They are sending me a UK plug and said sorry for the mistake , atleast they sorted it quickly so i have no problem giving them good feedback .
