Four chord wonders though they may be...I'm with Zak AC/DC rock. It's easy to be elitist but at the end of the day it doesn't matter how complex music is, what matters is that people relate to it and enjoy it.

    4 chords... so what?

Every album has a life, and I too love Black Ice, which is as good as I could ever have hoped.

When you're down, or up, or hungry, or sick... AC/DC are the daddies.

nah man, a band with a few albums worth of stand out tunes, but alot of mindless drivel filling out most of what they put out... lets face it it never really got any better than before bon scott died... everything afterwards just feels... lacking...

Re: Doesn't matter how bad it gets, or who you are...

oh you are wrong chap... sooo wrong.

They fill me with vitality, and post Bon is good too. A few album's worth of stand out tunes? A few album's worth? That's not bad in anyone's book, but there's more than even that. There are LOADS of stand out tunes.

I rate AC DC (in the metal/rock genre) above almost any other band in history. They kick Floyd to death. They open a can of whoop ass on the Stones.

(I'd put Zeplin above them, Aerosmith a clear furlong ahead, and Queen further.)

But none of them can get me vibed up like DC.

But hardest of all is to put them in any genre.... they, for me are PURE Rock and Roll, so comparisons to maiden etc are impossible.

However.. point of this thread is that some AC DC is good enough for anyone, from any walk of life, loving any genre, to love them.

And, if I'm honest, screw to them. Cos that's what AC DC is about...shaggin'

LOL who cares they are good for what they are. I like AC/DC I bet there are a number of metal bands you listen to these days that are crap paint by numbers metal. Heavy metal hasn't had a break through album since the 90's. Most metal albums of the last 15 years have been mainly filler and little killer. Myspace has a lot to answer for in recent times for propelling a lot of crap bands into the limelight. Job for a Cowboy spring to mind, rode the myspace wave and got a deal and they are the tip of the pile of polished turd mountain.

Re: Doesn't matter how bad it gets, or who you are...

I don't mean to rub mash potato on the car of your musical tastes Zak, but aren't AC/DC like an Australian rock band? And aren't the members all like 60 years old?

Hardly the l33t happening new sound of the 21st century, really.

If I wanted to listen to the noises elderly male Australians make, I tie Harold Bishops shoe laces together, then turn his TV to Home and Away, hide the remote, and watch as he lunges for the TV, falls, and cries out in pain.

Stop rocking, start going away quickly.
