    EBay listing removed... grrrr!

Something to note for anyone listing on EBay... you are not allowed to say "AS NEW" in the title!

I had an item on Ebay ending tonight, with 12 watchers and bid up to a good amount.... less than 12 hours to go and it was removed by EBay for breaching their "Keyword Spamming" rule
The only thing I did wrong was to say "AS NEW" in the title... but the item was, well... as new!! Seems ridiculous to me.... why can't it flag up that you have breached something WHEN you list it, not a few hours before the end when you have people interested?? Really annoyed now!!!!!

Oh well.. not much I can do other than relist.....

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

    Re: EBay listing removed... grrrr!

That is most displeasing indeed. You can see the sense in the rule, when a person searches for "item xxx new", they don't want all the old tat which is titled 'as new' to be caught up in the search. But I've similarly used the 'good as new' description and would have been plenty peeved at this kind of a move.

Frankly though, when I look at ebay with all those "professionals" and their buyitnow offers hogging up the screen, I'm not sure the darn thing is even usable anymore. If you search for a particular phone, for example, you'll find about 5 pages of spares, dummies, and accessories before you get to a real auction of that particular phone, which was supposed to be the whole point of ebay. Ah well.

What I do is put a -new -accessories -batteries -case and loads of other "filters" to filter out all those craps.

That happens with froogle (google products). Works perfectly if I just search, but it won't give me the best price, if I sort by price than all those crap comes up.

    Re: EBay listing removed... grrrr!

The annoying thing is that there are loads of items on there that have that in the title. Although I tend to avoid using words like that these days and put things like perfect condition, they can't argue about that then.

Sure, they can. The first fingerprint you place on the item and it's imperfect.

If it's sealed in a box, same thing applies, the box is no longer perfect, it might have been breathed on.

    yeah, me too

You can't list item with "Sorry I dont take PayPal" cos it breaches ebay's world dominating, all encompassing money grabbing rules.

AND when someone DOES finally buy something, they get instantly hit with "Pay Now by PAYPAL" on their screen, so you have to go through hours of emails asking if it's ok to refund the buyer and get them to send a cheque, to save the Paypal admin and commision charges.

I swear, if I could, I would stop dealing on ebay, but I just have too much stuff to shift.

I just WISH someone would come along and screw them over with some Anti Competition lawsuit, or nail Paypal to a wall and shoot it.

You know the only person with the money to do that is Bill Gates, right?
