What do you use for your baby's teething pains?
It's my 3rd daughter - we normally use Bonjella and this helps take her mind off things for a while - but is there something better out there?
Thanks

Wise old man won't you help me please? My house is a squash and a squeeze.
calpol, most epic thing in the world
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?
aye - we use calpol too - although administering can be a bit sticky

Dentinox is FTW, after four kids it gets my seal of approval for teething gel. Otherwise infant ibuprofen &/or infant paracetamol. Unless they have asthma, then ibuprofen is a no-no.
But having said that research has shown that using paracetamol as a baby increases your risk of developing asthma about five years later by about 46%. Tho nobody as yet has been able to prove how.
Stats, gotta luvem![]()
thats quite scary tbh.
We're struggling with teething, right now. Poor little spud, he can be happily eating and then he just screams and then wont touch food for agesHe's a hard little tryer though...
Teething gel is a nightmare to apply, and so we use infant ibuprofen.. but not often. He likes to chew my finger tips the most, and whle it hurts like hell, it's no worse than being bitten by my dogs, which has occured a million timesd when I play with them.

We stick with Ibuprofen, bonjella & chilled chew toys...

My little en just got on with it. If we did ever consider he was seriously in pain we'd give him a dose of Calpol.
Research will always show something or other in a bad way, but lets remember people of the 'parenting' generation had toys with lead paint, cars without cat convertors and all kinds of other bad things. We're still here aren't we?![]()

Bonjela (or Cal___ equivalent) and Calpol. Rinse and repeat.
A mixture of bonjella and calpol-alike here normally seems to do the trick, but we are admittedly at fairly early stages in the teething process..
I'd forgotten biccipegs, I haven't used those since our first.
I was unaware of the paracetamol/asthma link, I grew up with many asthma sufferers in Malawi and it was attributed to either a certain plant (the name of which escapes me) which produced loads of pollen or an anti-malaria drug, but nobody used paracetamol to my knowledge.

Everything. Going through this with our little boy now, have done for the last few months off and on. We also found teething powder helped suprisingly well, especially in the middle of the night, although they seem to get less effective the older they get. I have also found that gels only really help once the teeth start cutting through the gum, calpol is best when they are moving through the jaw.
My little boy loves the taste do calpol, but to avoid those sticky times when they are really upset we squirt it in his mouth with a seringe (how do you spell it?).

Ashton & Parsons Teething Powders.
They're a herbal remedy but they certainly help(ed) our little one through all his teething pains over the last 18 months or so. They do a wonderful job of calming him down and making him less fretful. Lots of our friends swear by them as well.

What about frozen calpol - I'm suprised nobody's thought of that
Surely that would be a win-win situation as you'll not get the sticky mess from it all over and the cold from the frozen mixture would also assist in cooling and soothing the teething pains.
