Contact your bank, change your ebay and paypal passwords.
Do you mean your ebay account was hacked, or your paypal account? Either way, change your passwords asap. (Note: I am assuming your pc is clean and does not have spyware ,trojans, etc)
Ring, contact, paypal and tell them about this.
Ring bank, and tell them to cut the DD you have with paypal. (Assuming the money as not gone out). Still do it.
And when was the camera bought? Who was it brought from? Has it been sent out yet?
Hi,
Just changed ebay+paypal passwords, my ebay account email had been changed and postal address had been changed to:
Tomas Guoda
Zirmunu 130-3
Vilnius LT 09126
Lithuania
I'm thinking that the Seller's account had also been hacked.
I've filed a report with paypal and I will go into my bank later today (seeing as its midnight now) to see what they can do. Annoyingly i had signed up with my debit card rather than credit...
The payment came out on the 23rd, the ebay item is here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=160321039835
What a pile of balls.
Have you contacted the seller - presumably you that's how you know they've been hacked? I'd cancel the card too, to be on the safe side.
Out of interest, what kind of security do you have on your network/PC?
just AVG behind a router, though last time i logged into ebay was from my work PC - which i'd hope would be clean... i'll pop into the bank tomorrow morning and see what they can do from their side...
thanks for the useful advice guys!
Anyone know anyone in Lithuania that owns a bat?
this happened to me just a few weeks back
however nothing had been purchased on my ebay account, but they had listed things for sale...
they also managed to get into my hotmail account, and smartly blocked any messages from "@ebay.com" so i was very confused when nothing was coming through.
i went on ebay help and spoke to a guy within like 5 minutes via some online IM thing, and he sorted out my problems within like 10 minutes, and kept me informed about what had happened, what i should do etc. (was actually extremely impressed with the service)
my best advice would be to try that.
This happened to me a couple of years ago, exact same circumstances apart from my hotmail not being hacked. From reading around the net and speaking to other sources, the most likely scenario was that it was Ebay's security that was compromised not mine. Of course Ebay have never admitted to this as it would have made them liable.
I now regularly change my ebay and paypal passwords and make sure that they are fairly strong.
Natwest could'nt do anything because its not yet fraud because I have a paypal account... so I rang paypal and its now just a case of waiting with crossed fingers and an empty bank account... *sigh*
i too have AVG which is behind a router.
its weird tho because im quite security conscience, and i remember that on the day that it happened, i too was at work looking on ebay. Not sure what kind of security they have at work :(
hmm worrying! Hope you get it sorted and get your money back.
I had a similar situation, my account had been hacked and 5 £250 rifle scopes ordered. Contacted paypal and ebay, changed my passwords and connected email addresses, changed passwords on all email involved.
Natwest said they couldn\'t do anything as I had already made a purchase via paypal so didn\'t flag up. Paypal were eventually able to sort it after a few weeks though, but I had to borrow off friends so I could buy food, get to work etc in that time.
