    Re: Jacqui Smith - bwahahahahahahaahaaaaaa!

While I agree that MP's should have access to a second home if they have a constituency outside of London I feel some MP's are really taking the piss. Eric Pickles on question time admitted he had a second home and he only lives 37 miles from Parliament, well worth a watch on iplayer in fact as he gets a right shoeing from the audience.

I think we need to be realistic about the costs of the job and I think we need to more stringent and ALL (and I mean everything down to the last bathroom plug) expenses should be made available to the public online for easy viewing. I have a right to know what my MP is spending when I go to vote.

Just allow MPs to video conference into parliament.

Voila, no second homes needed at all and travelling costs massively reduced.

    Re: Jacqui Smith - bwahahahahahahaahaaaaaa!

As I understand it these people are public servants; they work for us. So why the hell don't we get to approve their salary increases?

My guess is that more than half of MPs are mainly in it because the money is so good and the work so easy. (By comparison, I work 12 hours most days and earn a pittance).

Public office should not be sought by people who need a bigger, fatter pension (yes, next we need to talk about MPs pensions) or a huge fiddle fund, it should be for honest, decent people who want top help those who voted for them. Apart from Austin Mitchell I can't think of one with whom I would trust my wallet while I went for a pee.

This thing about MP's having a 2nd home if they live outside London is pants. Why not stay in a hotel???? Or build a purpose built accommodation building for them to use when in London???? This would mean there would be no need for the 2nd home expenses!!!!

    Re: Jacqui Smith - bwahahahahahahaahaaaaaa!

To be fair, my company prefers for me to rent an apartment when I am working away from home, because it's cheaper, less hassle, and my wife can stay with me when possible, so I don't have to resort to filthy videos of Jaqui Smith lookalikes doing it with their closet gay parliamentary secretary husbands. I agree, though, that naming a caravan in Wales as your main home in order to claim the full whack on a nice London pad is taking the pee a bit.

Plenty of companies that provide you with overseas accomodation (because no companies i know would ever ask you to go anywhere outside London in the UK) actually provide you with an appartment. Some only do this for the first 3 months or so, from then on its up to you to find somewhere, however their is no home allowance, you just pay for it as part of your overseas package.

    Re: Jacqui Smith - bwahahahahahahaahaaaaaa!

This finally explains why Jackboot Smith is so obsessed with outlawing pornography...her husband won't stop watching it, so she won't stop until she has stopped EVERYONE from watching it.

That said, I don't think she should resign over this for two reasons. The first reason; if I were married to Jacqui Smith there would not be enough pornography in the world to distract me from this fact and I'm happy to pay for her husband to 'exercise his moral compass' with my tax dollars.

The second reason; she should resign because she has methodically and systematically eroded every one of our hard-won liberties beginning with 42 days detention and ending with the police's disgraceful actions at the G20 protests, because she has overseen the continued growth of the largest database of DNA belonging to people never convicted of any crime and still fails to comply with the ruling that these records must be destroyed, because she continues to push an ID card system that we don't want and can't afford.

Fiddling her expenses is just the icing on top - and the kind of thing that did for the last tory govt - but it's far from the worst thing this horrible woman has done. I'm glad she has been so publically humiliated, but not if it distracts us from remembering how appallingly bad at her job she is.
