That was a short day at work !!

Thinking that I had to be in work today, I get ready, put the uniform on, have a decent shave, grab my keys, put on my leather jacket and drive to work. Pull up in the car park 15 mins before my shift is due to start, go into the staff room and look at this weeks roster.

Now bear in my I was last in the building on Friday and the roster stated I was meant to be working today doing a 12 - 4, I look at the today to discover that a new lot of rosters have gone up for the month and I should have in fact not been into work at all today !!

So after telling the boss off for informing and poiting out if it had been the other way round (knowing I'd had the day off but the rosters changed and I wasn't told I was meant to be working) they'd have been calling me up wondering what was wrong.

It would just be nice if people would keep me informed if my hours have changed, nobody thought to let me know that I wasn't meant to be in today, and I'm not a flaming mind reader. So that fuel wasted into work and fuel I needn't have used if I'd known.

If he were to organise a childs tea party he'd use a choclate teapot.

Sorry for the rant guys, just makes me mad when stuff like this happens.

I used to have that happen now and again when I was working shifts, bloody annoying! As you say, had it been the other way round they wouldn't hesitate to moan like hell.

Re: That was a short day at work !!

My sis had a huge problem with this when she worked at woolies, she used to copy down her hours, get a manager to sign it off then go by those, if they changed she had a signed hours sheet saying she wasnt working those hours.

Re: That was a short day at work !!

Thats unlucky. One time I turned up for a shift by accident at around 8.30am on a Saturday (having not realised they took me off weekends).

They were so swamped though the supervisor begged me to stay, so I got double pay and a pick of the next weeks shifts

Re: That was a short day at work !!

My boss phoned me up later on in the day to apologise and to say he'd pay me my traveling time with a bit of overtime, so that was fine.

My hours hardly ever change, still got a fair old bit to get done, and with not needing to be back in work till Tuesday I can crack on tomorrow
