Quite Interesting the Elonex Cube3 With iPod Dock

    Hi guys,

I saw today the Elonex Cube3 With iPod Dock, has anyone tried this one? Sounds too good to be true for the price asked.

    Cheers

I suspect it's a case of "jack of all trades, master of none".

Reviews seem to back this up to some extent. Do you have a PC (clearly)? That negates the vast majority of the things it does.

Realistically, do you want to watch DVDs on a 7" screen on your desk when a PC or laptop screen will be bigger and better? TV, well, yes and no. Unless you get a proper coaxial aerial cable, the quality - i guarantee - will be rubbish. The speakers will no doubt be pants, and overloaded with bass because that's what sells these days (crap highs and midtones? hide and smother it with bass!). If you're getting it for the iPod dock, you've got an iPod - you don't need the mp3 player function.

The amazon description hits the nail on the head, it's a good thing to put in the kitchen or buy to put in one of your kids bedrooms (though like hell i would ever give one of these to my kids ). It might be handy to have freeview in the kitchen, or put on a DVD whilst you cook or whatever, but it's not something you should buy as a replacement for any one of the things it claims to do.

Save your money and buy a dedicated iPod dock or whatever else you want, you can get a very decent micro system for under £100 these days. Failing that, perhaps just get a proper Apple Dock and buy some nice speakers from eBay? (again, easily doable for under £100).
