help with apple and iPhone water damage.

Hi, my iphone started breaking down 2 months ago.

First my WiFi stopped, and then the power button, volume buttons and silent buttons.

Then later my headphone jack stopped working.

i was told to send it off to apple. i did so, and they sent it back, saying there was water damage, and showed the picture which did prove that the tab under the dock connector was red.

This i know to be worng as i have never let the iphone touch water. i do have very sweatly palms, but they assured me that my palms cannot make the iphones water damage tab turn red.

i got the phone as in upgrade in december, and its a 16GB 3G phone.

    What can i do?

can i claim SOGA or anything?

Any chance the water damage could be due to condensation/humidity:

I've got a nokia, I was camping last summer I left it out on a table which was in the tent all night. I made a call in the morning and I could see the condensation building up on the inside of the screen while I was on the call.

I'm not sure if the SOGA can help you, does the manual state the environmental parameters of the device, acceptable humidity etc.

Cross your fingers if you are on an O2 contract may Apple could help you out if they announce a new Iphone and O2 let you upgrade.

It would mean you would have to prove that the damage was not caused by you, and that it was caused when it was sent for repair. I would say your best bet is having a another chat with them!

If you to the small claim court you will need to prove it as you will be the one brining the action.

I don't think i'm wrong on this but can anyone else confirm it?

You're probably best off walking into an apple store and getting them to deal with it - it's far harder to be fobbed off if you're standing in front of them

Same case happened to me last year as I was in a seminar near our place. I have to charge the batteries of my iPhone. I left it out on the table and the time we got back in our quarters(almost 6-9 hrs) I saw the water building inside the screen ofmy phone thus, sending mr to the nearby phone repair shop that is open all night since it was the middle of the night.
