    Tv advice!!

Was not sure where to put this thread:

Bought one of those 22inch Technika with the freeview and dvd built in a month or so back. But I have had problem from day one. Firstly there were faint white horizontal white lines when playing dvd's. Then a few days ago no should would come through my headphones, and instead came trough the tv speakers. It has two headphone inputs one for vga pc and one for s-video component audio or something. The headphones were plugged into the latter and worked finr when i last used it last week. So took it back yesterday for another same problem, and guess what same thing again. So today got another replacement- not testes it yet.

But i'm stuck as to what tv to get if this one is faulty. I want it to be a 22inch screen, have hdmi connection, 1680x1050 resolution, hd ready. A bonus would be a an integrated dvd player although i'm not fussed on that as i can use my 360. My top budget is about £260!

The only two i have found are theses:

Toshiba 22DV555DB - 22" Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV/DVD Combi - Glossy Black

LG 22LG3000 - 22" Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview

Both on Amazon. Problem is they both bad and good reviews and its getting confusing.

So any suggestion would be great!

I should also mention that the problem with the headphones has been exhausted in relation to fixing it. The tech helpline have no idea what's up.

    Re: Tv advice!!

I have one of the LG's and I'm relatively pleased.
Picture quality is good, it looks nice and has a nice interface.
I had problems with the HDMI port at first, sound kept on crackling and sometimes disappeared altogether and you had to turn it off and then on again to get it back. Not a crippling feature but could sometimes be annoying. Luckily it's gone away now and it's working fine. (Other than the fact the glossy frame is a massive dust/fingerprint magnet!) Oh, and also the sound can be slightly tinny, even with a bit of tinkering, but you shouldn't expect too much from such a small LCD.

Either of the top 2 results here gets my vote, depends what resolution and aspect ratio you want.
    http://www.ebuyer.com/search?page=2&...vancy&limit=10

We have the older version of the middle one and it has had one fault it needed returning for (which took frickin ages because LG are pretty poor at this sort of thing..) but otherwise its fantastic.

    Re: Tv advice!!

I hate these sized TV's with a passion as the only people making good ones are either Samsung or LG. Tje Toshiba ones (like their laptops) aren't genuibe Toshiba TV's, they are built by some unknown brand and then badged Toshiba.

I take so much of the un-named stuff or rebadged stuff back faulty I'm beginning to wonder if there is much point selling them.

Because the one that gets sold and kept, pays for the 1000's coming back

There is a lot of point to them though, for us anyway. Good size monitor, good size TV/DVD player for a smallish bedroom.. works well. I do the same with my 20".

    Re: Tv advice!!

Well 1920 x 1080 means you're setup and ready to go for HD in 1080p (I think) and you are in 16:9 widescreen meaning its perfect for modern dvd's and blu rays etc..

So I would probably get that one tbh if that is the screens main purpose.
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158705

That resolution on 22" screen is a little bit small for reading off of (imo), 1680 x 1050 is nicer in this respect but this is the only advantage I can think of for the 1680 x 1050 model.

The main use of the tv is freeview, dvd's and 360. So that one seems right for me

    Thank again people and staffsmike!

edit: found it cheaper on amazon

If you wanted a slightly bigger alternative,
    http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/41365...tv-monitor-fu/

Another very nice monitor and tv

HDUK also has a fujitsu 22" with similar specs to the LG but I couldn't possibly recommend anything made by fujitsu lol

Personally I've just bought a Panasonic and would recommend them to anyone. You may pay a little more but imo the quality you get it worth it. Mines in 37" but the smaller ones will be just as good.

    Mines the TX-P37C10B (IIRC).

    Re: Tv advice!!

Got the Samsung T220 from comet it was £229 i think got it down to £200. Resolution is 1680 x 1050 now if i'm right when playing the 360 using a hdmi cable the highest setting i can have is 720p ???

It looks very nice!!! good picture quality when playing dvd's. Sound is fine- some reviews said i lacked bass et etc, But for the price i have no problems!
