A Belgian woman has claimed that she was given 56 star tattoos on her face when she fell asleep in a tattoo parlour.

Kimberley Vlaminck is seeking £9,000 in damages to pay for laser surgery to remove 53 of the stars because she said that she only wanted three applied near her left eye, The Daily Telegraph reports.

The 18-year-old said: "When he started to tattoo me, I did not feel pain and I fell asleep. I awoke as he tattooed me on the nose and I saw what he had done. I counted 56 stars.

"I cannot go out on to the street, I am so embarrassed. I just look ugly, a freak, mutilated."

However, Tattoo Box owner Rouslan Toumaniantz has demanded €50 (£43) for the body art and claimed that Vlaminck only complained about the tattoos when her father met her outside the Courtrai parlour.

"She was awake all the time. I did not hypnotise or dope her, as they say, it was with agreement. No way could I have tattooed so many stars on her face against her will," he said.

This was in The Star yesterday (copy sitting in the office kitchen while having lunch).

I wonder if it was The Star or DigitalSpy that mirrored the photo, in the Star it was the other side of her face (not that it makes any difference).

Apparently the police aren't pursuing it, which says to me they think she is lying.

I was discussing this yesterday with friends. The best quote from the story was in the Daily Fail

The guy who did the tattooing Rouslan Toumaniantz is.. well... unique in appearance. Fully tattooed face with what look to be two speaker grilles in his nose and several kilos of scrap metal looped through his mouth.

In fact, here he is. Blimey.

Anyway, yes I think she's lying too. I've not had a tattoo but can't imagine getting your face half covered whilst having a peaceful 40 winks seems too likely. Plus she seemed way too animated when she was giving her side of the story, complete with many head-shakes and other little giveaways that the person is trying to convince themselves of their story.

Having had a few tattoos, she is either lying, has no feeling in her face or was so off her face she had no clue what she was doing.

You cannot really fall asleep or stay asleep while being tattooed.....while it isn't a lot of pain, it's enough to wake you

I dunno, I've nodded off before during a long session of shading. I find its mostly the outlining that hurts, and where you're having it done. Not a chance she fell asleep during that lot unless she was drunk or had taken drugs of some sort.

I think she may have asked for this, then totally regretted it once it was finished or when her father saw it. Deserves her right for getting such a ridiculous tattoo.
