    Painting a nokia 5210 case.

    Hi.

I have a nokia 5210. and have jsut purchased a black case for it. the case is kinda rubbery/plastic stuff. i want to paint bits of it white, the reverse of the normal black/white case if you have seen it.

Anyway, im not sure which kind of paint to use. Can anyone help me? think modelling stuff would be suitable? by brother has some stuff for airfix/warhammer type thing

    Thanks
    Will

    Tipex

Maybe try different stuff out on a small area / inside where it won't be seen to see if it drys on ok / does not scratch off. Would of thought stuff for painting warhammer stuff etc would be fine.

I've seen Tippex'ed phones. They look a bit crap to say the least. Lol.

I'd advise leaving it alone. I have a 5210... It looks difficult to paint nicely

You will need to use either Acrylic or Enamel model paint, I personally prefer to work with Enamels as they tend to be harder wearing, but it doesn't really matter at this stage.

First thing you need to do is use a fine grade sand paper to prepare the plastic for paint, this removes the shiny texture and allows whatever paint you use to adhere to the plastic ( paint directly onto a shiny painted surface and you will find the paint will flake off in no time)

You might find it a good idea to 'mask' off the screen area with some masking or sellotape, preventing any damage or paint getting on this area.

If you want to paint it a bright colour, I'd recommend you apply a white undercoat as a first coat, and then paint over this.

Finally you need to use varnish, here you have a number of choices, but my personal favorite is Johnsons's floor Wax (no joke) paint it on undiluted and it will dry to form a hard glaze which is very very tough indeed. However, a couple of coats on top with car varnish can't do any harm either

    Hope that helps.
