Barclaycard. Nice service but why 0845 number?

Had a minor scare just now. Got a phone call from Barclaycard; an automated system. I thought, "scam" instantly. I googled the number and it seems to be genuine, so I rang it back. Very painless system, doesn't ask for any information just to confirm part of your DOB as a multichoice reply. I just confirmed the three latest transactions and that was that.

Just a shame that it's an 0845 number.

So this new anti-fraud system sort of works...after all I did do a couple of "new" transactions. Lets hope I don't have to confirm every transaction I make!

0845 = local rate call, which is one of the cheapest. Mobiles may vary of course

Saynoto0870 also has listings for 0845 numbers, so if you use a service like 18866 you can get it for cheaper

I had the DOB thing from the Halifax and they got it wrong on all 3 options they gave me
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

It's really annoying that 0845 numbers are no longer inclusive of the free minutes with any mobile network AFAIK.

Nah free whenever you get free calls (so anytime on the anytime package, or evening and weekends only on the evenings and weekends package)
