I think i've found the best cable management

Earlier on today whilst trying to tidy up a load of cables for my tv, pc etc i stublmed on what I think is the best way of making sure the cable's stay hidden and out of site.

I was having to run some behind a boockshelf onto the top where a switch is and they could constantly dangle insight until I found the ducktape!

    It works really well.

You want run a cable up behind something and keep it neat the ducktape works a treat.
So far i've used it on most cable behind my tv to stop the cable falling down into view. Just taped to a shelf

(My moment of feeling like a genius is fufilled for the week )

Re: I think i've found the best cable management

I would recomend using electrical tape, as duck tape could in theory melt, or in worse case catch fire if it is exposed to high temperatures which could result from bunging a load of wires together

Unlikely unless they are carrying a lot of current - I would hazard a guess that these are signal cables. However trhe problem with duck tape is that ist can leave a sticky residue on the cables when you come to remove it (and also on the surfaces that you are sticking it to.

Tie wraps are good for bundling cables togeter, ir you can get spiral wrap, or flexible ducting (usually has a split in it for fitting over the cables.)

I though prober Duck tape was OK - just the cheap imitations that left residue? Could be wrong though.

Re: I think i've found the best cable management

I think any tape (at least any tape I've ever used) will leave a sticky mess once it has been in pace for long enough.

Either that or it dries out completely and leaves you with a dry mess instead.

I know it will leave sticky marks but as it's behind everything i'm not to bothered.

Now if you will all stop spiloing my moment of glory. I was feeling rather happy with myself.

And sticky marks on the cables as well. Thats annoying when you run them through your hands years later and get covered in the stuff.

Nylon Cable ties ftw, altho they are abit tricky getting off, dont really trust myself with scissors around wires.

I use edge cutters or whatever they're called - the ones I use for snipping component leads when soldering.
