We have a lamp on the front of our house which until now has had a standard 60W bulb in it, triggered by the PIR. At the weekend we decided to change this for a 20W CFL (equivalent 100W) that runs dusk-till-dawn.
All seemed to go well, until I noticed that my ADSL connection was down, and it would refuse to reconnect. At the same time, my CCTV system, and analogue TV were all showing signs of interference.
I turned the light off, and it all went back to normal. The CFL bulb must have been generating a huge amount of interference to affect the equipment in the house like that. Has anybody else seen this with recent CFL bulbs? I found a few Google results that implied that these problems have been solved in newer designs, but this was a £1.99 screw-in bulb from Wilkinson's, GE brand I believe, that I purchased on Saturday! The bulb seemed okay - nice and bright, no flickering. But the interference it's generating makes it useless.
