London is mainly supplied via a ring-main fed from supplies from West London (Staines area) and North London (Tottenham area). Have a look on satelite images of London and look for the reservoirs.

Lead pipes, only now found in some old buildings, can be tricky as the lead can disolve and cause health problems (plumbosolvency). It is resolved by a small quantity of orthophosphate being added to drinking water at the treatment works which prevents the lead disolving.

Perrier and Evian for me. I think there was some 'Strathclyde' water in Sainsburys that I liked too.

Re: What brand of water do you like!

Unless you suffer from scaling in your kettle (which I do), I personally wouldn't bother with the expense of a water filter - all you need is a jug or empty bottle (a clear wine bottle is a winner) and keep it full of chilled tap water in your fridge.

When you're out and about it's completely different though, having a bottle of water is very handy.

I like the stuff that's got a bit of hydrogen and a couple of bits of oxygen in it. Bottled water is a complete scam anyway - why pay TWICE for a drink? You pay water rates/council tax for the stuff that comes out of your tap in the first place!

Re: What brand of water do you like!

I'd be REALLY interested to see all those who mention a specific brand of water see if they can identify their brand by taste alone in a double-blind controlled experiment.

    I'd wager not.

Although on the subject of taste I do find bottled water tastes much better than my house tap water which has an unpleasant chlorinated taste to it. And don't forget everyone to not store your plastic water bottles close to bleach or any other substances as the plastic bottles are not "particle tight" and odours can leech through into your water!
