Re: Runny AND Blocked nose, worst combo ever

Sounds all too familiar & can only assume is the result of stores of snot liquefying from the bottom downwards, while top snot layers are still doing the fiendish blocking-up-ness.*

Hope you stop dripping soon & feel better.

    * no scientific basis for this whatsoever.

A blocked nose like that is usually due to swelling, not a build up of mucus

don't blow yer nose. Lie down, and wipe it gently. The more you blow, the more irritated it gets and the more mucus it'll make. I tend to find just 5 minutes of lying down will loosen it all up, and gently evacuation is then all that's required to clear it.

OR, if you've got an asthma inhaler, the Ventolin will actually help clear your nose as it'll reduce the swelling in your mucus membranes

Gargling with salt water will do wonders to clear your throat of mucus, which in turn will help you get rid of the infection, which will help unblock your nose.

I don't know the exact ration, I normally put about two teaspoons of salt for every 250 ml.
