    Exclamation The BIG HEXUS bookswap

Inspired by the great Zak33 himself, I'd like to announce the first
    Big HEXUS Bookswap

    The Rules!
    • Open to Regular Hexus users only. That way we know more-or-less the swappers are genuine.
    • Initially limited to the 1st 20 responders to this post showing an interest, but may be extended, depending on popularity.
    • We're not asking for new books here, just something you've read & maybe loved and would like to pass on.
    • One book per member.
    • Books must be suitable for teens minimally.
    • No Pr0n, smut, comics, crappy supermarket chick-lit, or tat. Something that will be of interest to all.
    • Don't say you're in & then not bother to post anything, you will be named & shamed! (if you don't provide a valid reason)
    • When there are enough takers I will contact those parties for their mailing address. I will then pass this on to the next person in the chain. You can provide your own or forum name.
    • When you're given your recipient you have 7 days to post by 2nd class post & then let me know you've posted.
    • Make sure your book is well wrapped for postage, we don't want any literature to be hurt in this exercise!
    • This exercise has nothing whatsoever to do with the Hexus.net main site and is totally independent & voluntary by non paid forum members.
    • Closing date for volunteers is Thursday 13th August. Gives everyone plenty of time to find a book.

So, if you're in & want to share, then post your interest.

    Thanks

    re: The BIG HEXUS bookswap

Sorry, you can't have any of my books. The ones I'd recommend are the ones I want to keep and will want to read again....I only have a very small book collection of around 80 books, kind of like my DVD collection.

    Re: The BIG HEXUS bookswap

I would be in, but the chances are i'd either forget to post a book out, or i'd be away and unable to.

Then I would get a slap from OiD. I don't want that

So I'll bow out of this one.

That is such a good idea! Unfortunately I'm too protective of my books to give any away (I think I have issues!) so unless anyone wants a copy of Middlemarch which for some reason I have two of....

I really like the idea though, Its kind of like a free book club plus everyone gets to read something that they might never have picked up before. You should post book reviews after you have finished reading them.

A great idea, but like IBM I just can't bear to part with my books. I got loads tucked away in boxes and cupboards and all sorts of strange places, but all will be reread at some point or another

    Re: The BIG HEXUS bookswap

I'm quite the opposite - I really should stop buying books and just get them out from the library as there are very few in my collection that I'll read more than once. My Shakespeare is going nowhere, ditto my Hunter Thompson. Same for my Douglas Coupland I guess. Other than that I tend to buy pretty random books, read them and then never touch them again, so a book swap like this (where I can be reasonably certain that I'll get a book sent on in exchange for mine!) is great for me - not only does it save me cash but it could potentially open up new literary avenues to me.

How long 'til we get kicking with this?

read good stuff then, and not all this literary crap which takes an age to translate and get the original meaning of, which then becomes debatable as the author probably had entirely other ideas than the critics that now attempt to find hidden meanings in fairly straighforward prose.

but then i'm a cynic and just like an author that tells a good story
