Don't you just hate it when you can't find something you have had recently?

    For example...

I have had a cheap USB hub kicking aroumd for ages - never used, getting in the way - you know the sort of thing...

Well, last week I suddenly had a need for it - and could I find It - not a hope - I knew I had seen it, and I thought I knew where I had tidied it away.

Then, today, while doing something else, I moved my keyboard, and there it was - grinning at me - and not only that, but a 2Gb CF card that I have also been looking for - for ages.

    Grrr!

Ever happen to anyone else or is it just me?

I once went around the house looking for some keys I had in my hands.

    It was a bad day.

I do the same thing all the time, usually with my passport or important mail.

At work yes. It's like the bermuda triangle at work, things just seem to go missing and then turn up weeks later. From molex to sata adapters, to PSU testers.

Re: Don't you just hate it when you can't find something you have had recently?

I have done this so many times.
I got a brand new mobile for christmas a year or so ago, had it in my pocket.
Then couldnt find it for the life of me, no matter where I looked. I gave up, then about 1am when I was going bed, I remembered bending over to pick something up, and had a flash back, it had fell under a set of drawers.

    Good old times!

    Ah yes, done something similar...

The other half lost a car key (actually one of those electronic flab things that you just place in slot on the dashboard). Searched high and low, and in the end she replaced it (at a cost of about £80 ). Fast forward a year - I put on a coat I hadn't worn for... a year - and guess what was in the pocket...

I've not seen the TV remote for about a month now. I'm starting to miss it.

And i thought i was the only one that did that. I'm so pleased i'm not alone.

I'm always going somewhere on a mission to get something, then when i get there, forget what it was i wanted, return to my starting position only to remeber what it was i hadn't got. I spend hours doing it some days. We are all loons!!

Re: Don't you just hate it when you can't find something you have had recently?

My trick is putting a jacket on, chucking my car keys in my jeans pocket, thinking *best take my phone out of that pocket incase of scratches* putting it in my jacket pocket, forgetting then spending ages trying to find my phone when it comes to leaving the house.

Or actually speaking to someone on the phone with it in my hand pressed against my ear, missing the feel of phone in pocket and having momentary panic that I've lost my phone. I hate that.

Haha I couldn't find ours for a while and then it turned up in one of my shoes.

Not sure whether to blame my almost 2 year of daughter or my wife. I'm pretty sure it wasn't me.

Bah, I do this all the sodding time with tools. It's always the case that the one and only tool I need to do a specific job is the one that I had yesterday and it's absolutely nowhere to be found! I then proceed to waste half the day looking for something to do a five minute job

I'm thankful for my CRT TV (as oppose to a skinny ass flat screen), had to put the DVD on top of the TV while the DVD remote in on holiday in some part of the house I'm yet to discover. Even the DVD remote had to make do with a staycation this year.

Re: Don't you just hate it when you can't find something you have had recently?

I have done that a lot. Especially when realising the thing I am looking for is in my hand.

Also when reaching for my can of Red Bull I was saving and after 10 minutes remembering I already drank it.

But the worst was when I was younger. I would come back home drunk on an evening and decided it would be a good idea to hide my cigaretes where mummy and daddy would not find them. Then the next day I would forget where I hid them. Or if I had hidden them.

It would turn autum and the leaves in the garden would fall off the bushes to reveal a soggy packet of L&B or a swan lighter.
Or a packet hidden in my room with all the tobacco dried out.
