Laptop failed three times within warranty.

Ok so my dell M1330 has suffered it's third motherboard failure in two years, I have a four year warranty on it which has essentially just about paid for itself and the laptop now. My major issue is this laptops motherboard (however many they give me) is clearly unreliable and I really can't be bothered to keep getting fixed.

I hear on the grapevine that after three hardware failures I can ask for a new laptop? Is there any truth in that?

The other problem will be getting in touch with someone at dell who is actually capable of dealing with me detailing this problem.. but I'll tackle that through an old business contact I think.

    Doesn't have to be 3

You can request repair, replacement or refund, I would suggest after 3 repairs it is a fault that is near unfixable so worth pushing for a replacement (such as a newer model due to time spent away for repair etc) as in a new one

Dell used to be pretty good about this stuff if you could get them on the phone. Ask for a replacement laptop, tell them you're not willing to accept another repair and they should be good as gold with you.

Hmmm, Dell machines are pretty good. Got two at home, and they are still going.

I would ring up and complain. They should give you a brand new one. Like finlay says, if it has been repaired 3 times now, and it's clearly something that they can't fix. So yeah I would say you are within your rights to ask for a new one.

Yep I would ask for a replacement - sounds like might just fixing a symptom, not the cause
