    Continuity fail

I was thinking earlier of film franchises that have awful continuity, the worst offender I can think of is the highlander series, where the various films contradict each other constantly.

    What others are there?

Highlander series? there was only one film

the clue was in the catchline, There Can Be Only One

    and there was

    ok

    end of

    ...

But, having just watched Wolverine, I do find it odd that Cyclops was never told who saved him as a kid.

There are three Highlanders focusing on the future and the prequel of sorts, then there are any number of tv movies for it

I would agree the highlander series is the worst but then its always a problem working out what time line he is in when he is referring to the chain etc.

No, you're missing the point. There was only one Highlander movie.

People may think they've seen sequels and a TV series but they're wrong.

So why are there other Highlander movies?

    There is Highlander in 1986
    Then Highlander 2 in 1991
    Then Highlander 3 in 1994

All have Christopher Lambert in them and I am sure they are all movies. So was only highlander a movie and the others straight to DVD things?

I get the tagline/joke for there was only one

Like I said, you think you've seen some other Highlander movies because they share the name, star the same people and have similar plots but, in fact, there was only one Highlander movie. And in it a French Scotsman aided by a Scottish Spaniard killed the Kurgan, gained the Ultimate Prize and lo, there was goodness and music by Queen. End of.

Probably the only bonus of watching this movie though

Yeah I remember the first one well, the second one was sort of a filler one where it covers the story of how they came to be and the third, I think has some sorcerer that tries to take his powers but he is the only immortal left!

My memory is flaky on these, last time I saw Highlander 3 was something like ITV at 2am and I was half asleep anyway xD

    Re: Continuity fail

first film: you're an imortal and cannot die

second film: you're an immortal alien and cannot die - and i've known you for many years from our home planet, from where we where banished as exiles.. even though you tried to attack me in the first film as a stranger, and was magically brought back to life in this one.

third makes more sense with the first film

    Re: Continuity fail

    First film: Classic

Second Film: Nonsense - cannot be considered cannon

Third film: Better than the second but still utter rubbish

Series: Cheesy, only worth watching if it's on, you're stoned and you can't find the remote to turn it off

Fourth film: An extension of the series

Fifth film: The worst of the lot, really, even worse than the second. Possibly because it was three bad scripts hacked into one when they realised there was no way they'd get funding for two more movies. Stupid ending.

Ergo, there was and only ever will be one true Highlander movie, epic and complete.

    ... plus a remake....

(alien wasn't too bad for continuity - except for avp. wonder what alien "zero" will be like?)
