nice :)
The SR-71  Well technically it's the fastest manned jet - NASA have that unmanned Scramjet-powered X-43 which can travel over Mach 9. Saying that that letter is dated '92.
Yup, it's a first edition printing :)
There is a new edition, which looks *really* nice, but it's also over $400...

*splutter*
read an excerpt from this a while back, if the whole books like that then its good stuff
How much did it cost you?
Remember the first time I saw one as a kid, I just stood there for ages and thought "That plane is the coolest thing I've ever seen" :)
Niiiice :)
I've been keeping my eye out for a cheapish copy of that for years but I've yet to find a copy for less than a ton :(
lovely mate... that'll need a nice clean bag to store it in won't it?
very nice :)
Who is this T-bird chap?
I've got a pretty decent video about the SR-71 - it's actually hideously low-tech for such a ridiculously fast thing :) Vewry jealous of the book though - got some proper provenance too :) Nice find!
Can I stay round your house for a few days while I read it?:p
and me... do you have lots of room, cos while he sleeps we can take it in turns reading it :)
I had a drool over the real thing at the Smithsonian Steven F Udvar Hazy centre near Washington this week (The museum where the SR-71 comes to life in Transformers 2...). It's one hell of a nice plane. Although slightly upstaged by the Space Shuttle Enterprise parked directly behind it. :D
