    never used paypal. reliabe?

I am probably the only person known to man that has never used paypal so i am wondering if its reliable and a good idea to use not us for ebay but other e-tailers as well.

From my understanding, what paypal does is act as a wrapper around your actual credit/debit card details. You enter your real card details in paypal and your good to go.

Ebay, scan etc will take money off me from paypal without knowing what my card details are and paypal will charge the appropriate card i used?

Correct, it's reliable and always there when you need it, although occasionally I've had problems buying stuff off indie sites but that's not entirely Paypal's fault.

IMO it's the best payment method to use on eBay, I've claimed money back from sellers who've pulled a sly one and has been sucessful the dozen or so times I've needed to do it.

    Re: never used paypal. reliabe?

I've been using it for years without too many problems. As noted above, it tends to be on the eBay side of things you get issues. I've only had one serious dispute and one minor one (the latter someone selling fake Oakleys on eBay and the former a complete tossbag idiot seller on eBay.)

I've paid for most of my recent Scan orders with Paypal with no problems at all. It takes money from my Maestro card as I tend to stay away from the credit cards unless I'm buying something seriously expensive (preferably on 0% interest as I'm what moneysavingexpert calls a card tart!)

That's true but if your ordering through a reputable company you shouldn't worry about giving them your details.

I have a total of one charge back and i've been using Paypal for years, the charge back was for a £10 item so i wasn't really bothered, i chased it up and the lad posted me a tenner in the end.

    Re: never used paypal. reliabe?

I too have used Paypal plenty of times, but personally have never had a problem. Though it is true that I've never had any issues with an eBay seller, which is the only place I ever use it.

    Re: never used paypal. reliabe?

I've not had any problem with them, but there are a fair amount of horror stories (I believe some of them even experienced by fellow Hexites). It comes down to weighting the risks. I see no need to use Paypal with Scan for instance. But I do not use other forms of payment on Ebay often. I have not linked my bank account with them, and minimise the amount I keep on my Paypal account by spending the payment I receive as soon as I find something I need.

    Re: never used paypal. reliabe?

Like others, i've been using it for quite a few years and not had any problems with buying from other e-tailers/giving money to friends, however a few friends have said that they are pretty bad when you get problems with them.

Never had a problem with Paypal, use it for ebay and other retailers, just easier than digging out my credit card sometimes.

    Re: never used paypal. reliabe?

Also never had a problem with Paypal, used it for eBay, Steam and many other online stores. Only problem I had is that the initial setup is hassel but once that is done its all good.
