20 posts and The Free-Delivery Entitlement

Not to sound like a moaning old so & so but maybe Hexus should think about how it advertises the Free shipping 'reward' ? I find it hugely annoying when i scroll through the new posts to find a new member of the forum has gaven his/her 2 pence with a poorly worded sentances (or lack of sometimes) that may as well of read "LOL".

Now i assume the offer is used to generate web-traffic and help with funds from advertising to run the sight but please for the sanity of current and regular members there msut be another way ?

    /Rant.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

I believe it's advertised as "constructive posts", or words close to that.

We regularly remove posts that are spam by these users and revoke them from the shipping offer if they are taking the pee. If you think someone falls into this area, flag it to us and we'll sort it if needed.

Keep in mind though that there are often new members to the forum that post a lot on their first day simply because it's a new place for them. There is nothing wrong with this alone, but the ones who are just after the free shipping normally stick out like a sore thumb

    Ironic

Report the posts you feel are spam - quite a lot of us do already, one more helpful (read: nuisance) member wont hurt

Re: 20 posts and The Free-Delivery Entitlement

    Back on topic.

Like the ForSale Section is only open to "regular members" I assume the this Free Delivery offer has the same rules.
Is there some sort of timer that tracks each account from the last post made and after x amount of time auto revokes?
It annoys me to think that there could be people abusing by making 20 "constrictive posts" then never showing up here again.

Re: 20 posts and The Free-Delivery Entitlement

why not just make it 20 posts per free shipping order. once you have 20 posts, then you are allowed 1 free shipping, another 20 posts equals another. and so on..

or just add 1 month minimum length on hexus before allowing the first free order.

It's been happening since the beginning of space and tiiiiiime...

I see that one of teh spamzors I saw earliers got there comeuppance, and had all of their posts made defunct (Thanks to Agent I believe?)

And unless I'm very much mistaken, there are a hell of a lot less of the buggers compared to this time last year, which is a good thing

Re: 20 posts and The Free-Delivery Entitlement

I think it works both ways, I joined here a couple of years ago because it was a good review site, however never got around to posting anything. As I had wandering around the site (coming in from google), I noticed the free shipping from scan deal, which were at the time a company I had traded with before, however often missed out because they didn't stock all the bits I needed or a few of the prices were high so I ended out, when I cut down things to minimise P&P. I quickly got 20 posts hopefully people considered them on topic rather than filler. Hopefully HeXus is has gained from me darkening its doorstep, which probably would not have happened without the scan deal, as sites (like these) can be quite cliquey, making it hard to be a noob, however there was a reason to try, and I found I rather liked the place.
Scan has already benefited from the synergy, previously I had not spent any money with them since 2005, however thanks to HeXus I have spent 400 quid there, one thing being a pre-order of windows 7, which without this site I would not have know let alone bought, another buy was were from daily offer, which also were pointed out here. I would not have spent a penny of it with scan without HeXus, clearly scan must feel there is value in it, as people who visit a site (post or not) are the kind of people who buy high margin computer equipment, exactly the kind of customer scan wants. In general they are more technically minded as well so more likely to buy the right equipment as well. If I were scan i would clearly care more about the quality of the customers the deal is bringing in rather than the quality of there posting, someone scumming 20 posts on here and then trades a lot with scan is a good customer for them. If scan did want to restrict it, the way I would do it would be on the number of thanked posts needing to be 20+... hay wait a moment... hmmm... ! I expect though the deal is not about rewarding the worthy it is about attracting high spend/margin customers to scan. If people want to keep the deal, the best way to do it is to vote with your cash.

Joking aside, I dont think that you'll find many who disagree. Bumping of ancient threads is the worst.
