    Saw this story, thought of here, since I know there are loads of BP enthusiasts here- I'm apparently going to become one once I've seen the place on 24th October.

    It's a bit simplistic I guess, for all his faults I'm pretty sure Gordon Brown is not in favour of persecuting homosexuals, so asking him to apologise for something that was plainly not his fault is a bit silly. However I hope he will see fit to express his regret about the way a true British hero was treated by the UK government, of which he is now the leader.

    True that GB shouldn't really be asked to apologise for a pratice that was ended decades ago.

    But I do find it odd how New Labour are willing to rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish money left right and centre on museums for environmently friendly and other such hippy bull, yet something like this they won't help at all?

    Is it because its ellitest or something?

    Waste of time and effort IMO. We should be worrying about issues that affect us now, not 40 years ago. Any apology given now is just political points scoring and what really matters is that we remember that this happened and make sure it doesn't happen again.
