In your estimation, do the wages you currently earn accurately reflect the work you do?
No, and I'm not saying that because I'm greedy. I honest believe my post should be graded better.
Nope... but then again I'm currently on an interim contract which means I get paid more than I would on a permanent one. In terms of my last job then the salary was about right for the work I did, but nowhere near enough for the amount of crap I had to put up with...

At the moment I count my pay as being OK, after being here 10 years I also get 33 days holiday a year (+ bank hols). But I live near work and cycle, if I needed a car to commute to other sites it would be more difficult.
No
However my dearests case is shocking so while I might complain I know it could be a whole lot worse.

Nope. i diddnt even get a payrise this year because of the recession and i am now doing more work then i have before and learning and using new technology in the process
Yup - I think I have a fair salary. No complaints there.
Arguably, no. A starving monkey could do my job at the moment, with a well fed one being too productive. I'm grossly overpaid for the work I currently do in my opinion, but then I also think it's about right relative to my co-workers, some of whom are overpaid for the pathetic incompetence they pass off as work. Depends on your point of reference I guess.
I haven't had rate increase (contractor) for 2 years but then it hasn't gone down either so I'm not complaining. I'm happy that I can maintain the rate from near market peak (banking sector).
Nope! I was doing the work of 2 up until yesterday, then my colleague went off sick and now I am doing the work of 4!
Not around too often!
No. But then again i would be surprised if anyone said otherwise. And not just because people are greedy. Your competences could be measured by the results you achieve and the resulting confidence your peers have in your ability to do the job, how many people can honestly say their salary has increased to match there workload?
Perhaps a more interesting question would be, how many people have confidence that there salary will in time catch up to meet there skill level and workload. I'd like to think it will, but history would indicate that’s unlikely.
You only need look on the IT job boards at what perspective employers are willing to pay for the IT skills they think are required for the job. They want X amount of years experience, expertise in all manner of technologies, languages etc, qualified to degree level, and have this that and the other certification. Does the salary match the expectations? Not by a long shot.

Wage-wise, no. My job in the civy world pays a lot better. But when you compare the living costs, job security and other benefits, I would say it's fair. However, I think the bigger problem is that I could fulfil my potential better, get a much better job and get paid more if I could be bothered!
For me it is somewhat ironic - I've got the easiest job (in terms of effort) I've ever had for the most cash I've ever been on. No career path at the moment though![]()
Yes.
I don't earn much - but I'm just doing a year long placement and have less useful skills than the permanent staff here (i.e. - I'm not much use doing VSAT support because I have little experience with it!).
Were I to be offered a permanent position (I don't think I will, for various reasons) then I expect the wage would be more.
