What station?
If it's on the BBC, you should be able to look up the track listing for each show on their website. Then you can work it out by what was played before or after it. Then try searching on YouTube for the ones you don't recognize or you think might be it.
Oh, and "sounds like Dire Straits meets Razorlight" sounds like a complete load of trash to me
Off the top of my head though, could it be The Airborne Toxic Event? A couple of their tracks sound a bit like Razorlight... just better.

Nope its not that one, yeah it was BBC Radio 1 and ive tried all the playlist songs.
I cant remember the lyrics, i think the chorus goes something like "only a night away, a night awwwwaaaaaaaaaay"
I guess its a lost cause:-(
