    Battlestar Galactia

Iv just started watching the first season of the new series (new-est) and im a bit confused. Iv seen the miniseries (3 hour long) which i thought led onto the main series, but after watch Season 1, episode 1 im still a bit confused about it.

Is there an introduction, or explanation to how they got to the stage they are at in S01E01, ie how the scions(sp) found them (after the mini series the scions said it could be decades before they found the humans again etc) and why they attack every 33minutes...among other things.

Without giving it away, can someone point me in the direction of what i need to watch before i watch the main series?

    cheers guys

    Re: Battlestar Galactia

This is all part of the fun of BSG

Even after watching all 4 seasons, plus the mini series andRazor, there are still lots of unanswered questions. Stick with it - you will understand what I mean a few episodes in. I could answered your questions..but that would likely spoil things for you.

There is a new series called Caprica which starts on SkyOne in January 2010, and that is a prequal to the BSG series you have started to watch, and that will explain a lot of the back story.

Best answer is to keep watching and wait to see what happenes..

    Re: Battlestar Galactia

Don't forget "The Plan" special that is out at the end of October.

Tells the story from the Cylon point of view.
Olmos, who directed it, warns that after watching it you will want to watch BSG from the beginning again!

    Re: Battlestar Galactia

Having watched the final season in pretty much one sitting a few weeks ago, I can confirm that it is indeed the most awesome thing ever since people figured out you can fry an egg using the heat from a Pentium 4.

BSG is sort of like Lost in that you'll always have a load of questions about what the hell is going on, but it's much better at resolving those questions (while posing more, of course). Generally, if something isn't clear, it will be made so eventually, with the exception of a few things at the very very end.

I didn't know about The Plan. Looking forward to that now!

    Re: Battlestar Galactia

I only watched the first series before I moved and no longer had access to Sky to watch the others (although I do plan starting in the near future). I used to watch the original series when it was on BBC2. I was confused at first whether it was a sequel, or original remake, especially when it used the "original" Viper just to confuse things (and changing the sex of Starbuck and various other "minor" changes). Once I realised what was going on, I found it very enjoyable, and look forward to watching the rest of the series.

You can pick up the series pretty cheapy on DVD now, last time I looked in Tesco Extra they had the second series for £15 but that was a few months ago.

Better yet, you can pick up the first 4 seasons for 40 squids at Amazon:

Then all you need is the Final Season!

Strictly speaking there are only 4 seasons, with the forth split due to the writers strike, but in the uk it's billed as season 5 or the final season. Let the debate rage on!

    Re: Battlestar Galactia

Obviously right the end of the mini series gives us an insight into a previously unknown Cylon model. May I speculate it is this model who gives away the ship's position? Fairly logical conclusion I reckon.
