I've seen a couple of Skii's models (via Hexus and Zak ), and each time i'm left completely speechless at the detail and quality he puts into his work. Absolutely awesome stuff, i now have a real incentive to finish the Gundam kit i have part built and to learn how to paint a kit properly.

    Thanks Skii

Woah, very impressive work indeed (again).

Sadly it's going to need new tyres, those ones are flat-spotted

The guy next to me just now couldn't believe that was a model, thought it was a photo of the real thing. And he knows his planes.

    Stunning detail as always.

I haven't read the thread on Britmodeller, but that refuelling dock doesn't look quite right in that photo for some reason. Might be the join line or the fact I'm viewing it on my netbook just makes it look like it's just been stuck on; but then I haven't seen the real B2 to compare it anyway.

Re: Britmodeller and HEXUS' Skii has another stunning model getting close to finished

aw you lot , making me blush lol very kind comments and thankyou - I pm'd Zakky with a link to the build as he's always fascinated with the old model planes, thanks for the encouraging comments, always spurns one on to get it finished. After 2 years and 3 re-paints its just a relief to be this close to the end - she'll be going public at the Farnborough model show on Saturday if anyone is interested Gerrard - I see what you mean about the refueling receptacle, i'm not sure how it works but it does raise into that position howevwe i'll be adding some very fine fuel spill markings around it as part of the final touches. Anyhoo, thanks hexites, you make a hobbyist very proud

Re: Britmodeller and HEXUS' Skii has another stunning model getting close to finished

Very nice work as always skii, love the detail and effort you put in.

For the refuelling, the receptacle on top of the plane raises and lowers(covered during flight for stealthy-ness), and connects to the solid boon rather than the trailing hose style traditionally seen on fighters.

Nice clear vid of the whole process http://www.metacafe.com/watch/484854...air_refueling/

In-flight images showing the receptacle retracted and covered. You can barely make out where it would be.

Looks great though, the refuelling port is probably a part of the plane many have not seen. So it's an interesting detail IMO.

Cool video. Can appreciate it more now. It looks better on my home PC anyway; might have something to do with my mobile broadband lowering the quality of pictures.

USAF generally uses boom (although there have been "bisexuals" with the capability to use both), USN & USMC as well as RAF etc. generally use probe & drogue.

Boom allows higher fuel transfer rate to a single aircraft whereas probe & drogue generally allows for several aircraft to tank at once but at a lower fuel transfer rate.

how quck does it transfer now?

Having just finished the ultimate book about the Vulcan's going to bomb the Falklands, and seeing how many Victors were used to transfer fuekl between themselves and the remianing Vulcan all the way across the globe, I'm intruigued.
