looks like Ice skaiting to me
I went on a knife defense training course led by an ex norwegian equivalent of sas and hes a 4th dan in combat karate (forget the proper japanese name). Features a lot of the same techniques however the advice was give them what they want and you'll most likely get off better than if you try and fight people with weapons.
Meh its Krav maga, not sure if ive spelt that right, and not that impressive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-YD-wmMP5U thats more impressive
I would have said Krav Maga too.
As for the Irish Open, I prefer some good old Bas Rutten.
Nah, I wouldn't say it was Krav Maga. Judging by it's lameness, it looks more like Aikido.
Its a bit too fluid and showy for Krav, basically there more theatrical moves. Some of the techniques are kinda like Systema

Oregano.
It's all very laughable and unrealistic.
If someone approaches you with a weapon, the best thing is to give them what they want, if they still want to hurt you, RUN. Failing that and if you can not run away, then of course as an absolute last resort you have to fight for your life.
An unskilled person with a knife can easily kill a world champion martial arts fighter, this has been proven time after time, I think there are a few YouTube videos around demonstrating this.
Really, how does that work (how to they demonstrate that)? Unless the person get stabbed in the back (i.e. the attacker never had the intention of letting the victim go), I am rather sceptical that that well trained martial artist wouldn't be able to take out an unskilled knife users. Not that long ago, there was the story of a 71 years old ex-boxer taking out an knife wielding boxer. If all it takes is a knife to take out a martial artist, than hand-to-hand combat training would've been long rendered obsolete.
Believe what you want, and good luck, but the facts are very experienced martial artists have been killed by attackers with weapons.
Here is one of the videos

Sure I can believe that, without context anything is plausible. Just as there are stories of non-martial artists successfully defend/chase off armed attackers. And I am sure there are also people who choose to run only to be caught out of breath and killed.
Still, in a scenario where the martial artist actually sees the attacker approach him, armed, or about to draw a knife, who do you think is more likely to move faster and hit the other first? If a knife cut can end the fight straight away (and I doubt it's only the instructor in this video who knows that), so can a solid hit, especially one aimed to disable the attacker straight away. If by 'easily' you mean that they only need to land a hit, then sure. But the other opposite applies too. I am just skeptical that on even ground, the 'unskilled' knife user would have a better chance to land that first hit before the 'very experienced' martial artists.
Also if attacking with a knife (not robbing someone jsut purely attacking) one of the worst things you can do is show the other person you've got one. If its hidden then you make like you're going to punch someone then they might block in a normal way but then because you have a knife its game over for them.
