I RMA'ed my Laptop under warranty but how long do I have to wait?

Hey guys this isn't a rant or anything just looking for a bit of information. Basically the graphics card in my laptop was playing up and needs replaced. Sent the laptop back just over a week ago and still waiting on it.

Now the reason im impatient is cause I've just started my final year at university and need it to do my work so the sooner the better i get it back really.

What I want to know is how long should I wait and is there a set time limit for which they can take to do it?

mastercare warranty is 6 weeks fix or they replace with new.

They do tend to repair more than they replace these days.

the applemac laptops we repair for mastercare are repair or 6 week write off, and trust me, if you do your best to kill it you get it back working but looking like its been thrown down the stairs with the stains and paint still on there

people have a habit of killing them a month before the warranty runs out, so we return them working the day after the warranty ends.

Well my warranty is for three years and i've only had it a year so i can assure you i wasn't trying to get a new one. I just want to know how long i have to wait before i can tell them i want a new one as i've been waiting too long. Basically i want my laptop back asap

Ahhh right now I know who is responsible, I sell the warranty's and you fix them for us !!

Do you work in the call centre or are you just a tech ?

i'm one of the field engineers, i get the odd call to collect or return them to the customer, we do not fix apples on site as its the 6 week write off contract.

i usually fix large format printers or projection equipment onsite.

I had a week on macs as i wanted to know what made them tick while i was on my training course, that enforced my dislike of apples as theres sod all in them

It depends on who is repairing it

Asus for example, did a repair on my eeetop and had it back to me within 7 days. Apple took 3 weeks to replace the broken case on my Mac Pro, Dell took 4 weeks...

So lots of variation there. I would expect up to 4 weeks is what I would call reasonable - not that its much comfort wiht uni starting very soon :S

Uni has already started..... and it's Kobalt computers. Guys are good like so im hoping its sooner rather than later but I haven't heard from them in a week.I just wanted to know how long i had to give before complaining

4 weeks would be an absolute max for me to be honest.

Most retailers state that their repair time is 28 working days, although I know some of them do vary.
