    Moving house, but where to?

So we've decided it's time to move house. We want to be a little closer to the folks for some help as our son grows up. The requirements are:

Must be a smallish village close to a town with a fast trainline (45 mins or less) into London.
Must be north, north east, or north west of London (folks live in Luton and Yorkshire).

    Recommendations?

There's some nice villages and small towns around this area, Berkhamsted for example, or if you want somewhere more urban, St Albans.

Pulloxhill or Greenfields or Houghton Conquest - easy for Luton, EM railway line & M1

South Oxfordshire, with access to Reading, is very nice, though a bit further from Luton than you might like. And it is quite expensive.

Actually the quickest thing I've seen move in a train station is a crowd of people told that the train they're waiting for has been assigned to a different platform and leaves in 1 minute. Perhaps if we said "the 12:03 to London Kings Cross has had a platform change from platform 3 here in York, to platform 13... in London Kings Cross, departing in 30 seconds" people would just run to London in 45 minutes.

Totally agree with that but the countryside around there has some lovely villages.
