    ebay buyer problems

I sold a computer on ebay a month ago and I've now got a paypal claim based on the argument that the computer was internally damaged.

It seems that the computer left me complete but the cpu was knocked sometime afterwards. Its then been left on long enough for vista to be installed and the cpu to blow up.

To say I'm mildly annoyed is an understatement.

So there was a month gap between the buyer receiving the pc and then claiming it was damaged internally? If thats the case, it sound very fishy.

Did the buyer try to contact you after he received the computer? And has he given you any feedback?

i would say your completely right here, usually the return times are few days or 2 weeks at most, a month and also them using it during the month invalidates anything they had

He contacted me but did not tell me anything that didn't sound like a blown cpu, he complained that the hdmi connection did not work which a google search showed was a known problem with vista and the board.

What really annoys me is that it means my account has a negative balance so I won't be buying anything from ebay until its resolved.

Is there anyway of getting paypal to speed up a complaint?

Good luck with this mate, I had nothing but trouble with Paypal, a total shams when it comes to both buyer and seller protection.

Have you given paypal a call? they have a UK number..

Nope. It usually takes 6-12 weeks and then they usually come down on the side of the buyer, regardless of how absurd the fault is or how your past record of selling has been.

    Re: ebay buyer problems

Well as I'm not going to get anywhere with the buyer I've escalated it to a dispute myself and

    1) emphasised that he accepted the goods from the supplier as checked
    2) that he agreed that the computers left me as working
    3) he was able to get it working long enough to install vista

I wonder if that will make any difference. I only need to wait 4 weeks before I find out.
