The matrix one is sweeter cos its all Javascript and not a movie. But still, the music ones are pretty impressive.

There are programs that will convert images into ascii characters by how dark each bit of the picture is. they just did it frame by frame. Probably wrote a program to do it quicker in batch.

there's actually an ascii mpeg encoder on sourceforge - very nifty
cool I found some function some where to do an image I wanted to make a movie converter one but it looks like I wont hace to. T'would have taken bloody years. Souds like a hard bit of code because I have never worked with mpegs or any thing.
Is that what its called? "ascii mpeg encoder" cos I got a few Ideas for that :)
