Done, play.com / tunetribe both working well (tunetribe works with Paypal)
Without saying 'get a life' as it's people's own decision how to spend their cash.
1) They're on the same label, so I'm sure this is only helping to boost the profits by selling all these tracks people wouldn't have bought otherwise.
2) They should have chosen the Children in Need song so the money went to a good cause or at the very least chose a decent Christmas classic.
3) Have these people actually heard the lyrics to the song? Ironic (in the way that it's not ironic but people think that's what ironic means)
4) They tried this with Hallelujah (sic?)...it got nowhere near (although was No2 I think?) & again just bumped up the coffers of the record companies.
5) There is something going on with this track, was it Amazon who dropped it to 29p therefore meaning it didn't count towards sales for a chart position?
The odds for Rage against the machine for no1 at Xmas slashed from 100-1 to 3-1....

No one's claiming it's going to change the world - you can argue the politics, the justification, the ethics, the choice of song and the point of it all, but at the end of the day, most people are seeing it as a bit of a laugh. Yes, there are better things to spend your money on, but there are also better things to spend your money on than video cards and extra RAM and that doesn't stop us buying them does it?
If you don't like it, simply don't do it! Where's the problem here? We're having a laugh - leave us alone.
meh![]()
At least we knew what the song was before we bought it - lots of people already pre-ordered the x-factor CD before they even knew who was going to sing it, or what it sounded like..
btw, there is a related charity to this, albeit not directly attached to the sales - the organisers are asking everyone who buys a copy to donate to shelter via the RATM-xmas justgiving page:

BTW, as well as supporting the "cause" - show your support for a proper cause by donating some money to shelter as well:

(over £20,000 raised at the time of writing by the group members)
Edit: Gah - beaten to it![]()
A token gesture though seeing as (I & others think) it would have been better to use the Children in Need single & not ask people to spend money twice (which to be frank I doubt people will)
As everyone (including myself) has mentioned, it's your money to do with as you wish. I'm personally not overly bothered either way
I wonder if the people who set up the group are in the biz? What label are Rick Astley & thingy-majig with Hallelujah on?
More conspiracy theories ahoy!
You could argue that it would be 'better' to donate the money straight to the charity without actually buying the single though.
And then you could argue that instead of donating money, you should go and give your actual own personal time in helping people out.
Anyway, I'm just being deliberately silly now. :-P
However, I do agree with you on one thing - I did have my slight suspicions that the group was set up by someone connected to the band![]()
Come on guys, spread the word

Apparently it's mainly because all of the pre-orders were counted today - expect another surge on Wednesday when the CD single is out..
It's looking promising though, should be a giggle![]()

I've been hearing rumours today that because Tesco and Amazon have been having a price war over the X Factor single neither of those stores sales will count towards the chart position...let's hope they're true![]()
Nope, the 29p downloads do count as they're being sold at a loss..
The founder of the RATM4Xmas group had it confirmed by the chart company this morning because they have also reduced the RATM single to 29p as well..

Luckily Amazon have just emailed me to say that I can have a £2 credit for mp3 downloads...
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
