Don't enter if you're afraid of spiders..... seriously

I give you the Camel Spider...

disclaimer: my host is a bit dodgy so this pic may dissapear without notice

They run 10 mph, jump three feet, are a nocturnal spider, so only come out at night unless they are in shade. When they bite you, you are injected with Novocaine so you go numb instantly. You don't even know you are bitten when you are sleeping, so you wake up with part of your leg or arm missing because it has been gnawing on it all night long. If you are walking around and you bump something that is casting a shadow over it, and the sun makes contact with it, you better run. It will instantly run for your shadow, and scream the whole time it is chasing you.

PS. The one on the bottom is eating the one on the top. These are Spiders found daily in IRAQ by our troops. Imagine waking up and seeing one of these b******s in your tent!!

They wouldn't bother you if they did.

They are very shy creatures, they don't jump onto camels or humans, they don't feed on living mammals, they feed on small bugs and insects, occasionally each other.

And they don't grow bigger than a childs hand - the ones in the above photo are very close to the camera lens.

And they aren't actually a Spider - they are more similar to Scorpions, which are more dangerous to us.

I used to see them as a kid in Saudi Arabia, you can also get black ones which look even nastier.

After a little looking up of these nasty mofo's I found that they are not infact spiders but a type of solfugid, more info here http://home.global.co.za/~quagga/solpugid.htm

    Larger pic as well http://fuz1on.shackspace.com/SPIDERS.jpg

They are also harmless to humans, and live off insects, rather than flesh.

Care Sheet for anyone who wants one as a pet

    Nice

I've always kinda fancied a big spider as a pet as i've already got a lizard but i get the feeling it'd escape and end up as a nasty stain on my vans

Yeah, I got that exact email too... yawn-a-rama! Luckily, I'd heard of it before, so already knew it didn't eat people's hands/legs or camel's from inside out...
