    ebay

ok so....anyone knows what happens if you're the seller, someone bids for an ebay item and then doesnt pay for it? I sold something last night, right at the last minute this chump with negative feedback gets the last bid. I don't really want to deal with him, I havent heard anything yet and if previous comments are anything to go by he's not going to pay up.

I've been reading ebay's help pages and they're not as clear as they used to be. After a certain period of time I can initiate a procedure to get a 'Final Value Fee Credit'. Is this the whole bid amount, or a percentage they calculate? Tbh reading ebay's protection policies last night, I wasnt all that confident that I'm going to avoid getting screwed here.

    Cheers.

Now that the auction has closed, you have a contract with the negative high-bidder. Send him a polite but firm e-mail giving payment details and instructing him that you must recieve within seven days. Also send an e-mail to the second place guy, explaining that you don't think the negative guy will pay up, and that you will be prepared to send him a second chance offer in a weeks time.

The final value fee credit is merely a refund of your ebay fees.

Yeah, I thought that was a case. I'm well aware of my contractual rights but I'm also aware of what practical use they are. I made it a term of the sale that the buyer only has 48 hours to pay, so after that I'll just issue a second chance offer.

Maybe, remember the negative feedback guy can also give you negative feedback....
Just be polite but straight forward.

I was in a similar scenario to you with a guy with high neg so after three day's I sent him an e-mail stating that if I did not recieve payment within 48hrs I would re-list the item.

That did the trick and payment was recieved within hours.
I think the best thing to do esp with high value items is to state that payment is required within 48 hrs as that tends to cut out the dross (hopefully)
