    Re: Electric Vs Gas heating

I picked up an oil filled radiator from B&Q this afternoon.

A 24 hour timer was £3 so it seems a cheap way in which to warm up my bedroom before work in the morning without unnecessarily heating the whole house.

However I will admit that, having come across this thread with Google after a morning researcing the topic I hadn't actually looked at the date. I'm sorry if it triggered unwanted email notifications.
I can't see anything wrong with adding information to a thread like this that other people, at some point, may find useful. It's why we leave old threads active, rather than locking or even deleting them.

Quite often, though, we get someone adding just a general comment that doesn't add to the store of useful info, usually because they didn't realise the thread was old. While not exactly a capital offence, that type of thread resurrection doesn't actually add much.

Also, you asked (another thread, I think) about going 'off-topic'. We just try to keep a sensible balance. Threads naturally evolve, and they can evolve quite a long way off the original topic. If something drags it too far off, and especially if it does it too early, a mod will drag in back on again, and often, that's prompted by a request from the thread starter. There are, as you mentioned, some forums that take a very strict view on 'off-topic' posts. We aren't one of them. We do try to keep a semblance of order and avoid total anarchy, but if a thread moves on organically, that's fine provided the original topic was, effectively, done with.

We've even had .... erm .... the occasional admin drag topics off-subject, as has been mentioned to me from time to time.
