Thats F**kin Mental
Should this not have come out on the 1st of April, not the 21st.
they dont plan to nick anyone, oh yeah
"The five-inch wide cat's eyes contain cameras which read number plates and record speeds up to 150mph"
Looks like theres a way around em then... ;) :p
do you own a car that can do over 150 then? ;)
another money making scheme. increased safety maybe, increased funds definately.
They're not going to be used as cameras though.
not yet there not. i bet they will at some point. or at least to monitor to see if its worth putting up a speed camera.
I saw these on the news. They're just going to be used to guage the speed of lines of traffic, once the flow of traffic gets below a certain level they'll put signs up warning people of delays. They havent got the capacity to pull anyone up for speeding with them cos they cant take your reg plate with them. They're just going to be speed sensors and the CCTV cameras are going to be just like the ones you find every day on motorways anyway.
Dont see what the fuss is all about.
even if they could take your picture etc.. i can't see them being used as actual spped cameras for fining people as there is no way to prove your speed from the picture as it's pointing up at you. they have to be able to prove your speed in order to convict you, hence why speed cameras take 2 pics and have the lines on the floor, just so they can say "you travelled this distance, in this time (the time between the 2 pics) so you were going this fast"
So if its pointing up at you they can't prove the distance you've travelled, it can gauge your speed just like normal speed cameras but not prove it.
also how do these things take your details? as you come towards them or going away? because if its towards, how would they get the number plate of a motorbike?

Dont you need to lower the compression in order to fit a turbo???? or it will Pink its bollox off
Yeah the compressions lower on the LET compaired to the XE, double headgasket will get round that tho, you'd also need extra oil ways for the turbo or a seperate oil pump n stuff for the turbo...
read some of the coments

he's changed the gear box as well then, either that or his clocks are WAAAAY out....Quote:
my gsi is amazing the engine was rebuilt by yorkshire rally centre skimmed polished piper cams 4 branch and full magnex ss exhaust and its now about 200 bhp!! @4500 rpm your doing about 135mph in 5th!! black in colour lowered and looks the dogs when i am approx 1 mile from home my dad can here me coming!!!
200Bhp without ditching the standard induction and management is nigh on impossible tho, pub talk figures there me thinks...
Didnt read any of the other reviews, any u wanna quote?
Give em a couple of years and they improve the technology, change the legistlation and these damn things will be showing up everywhere.
in australia we have radars and lasers to see how fast we are going....
they are eVil
I have a bike that will do more than 150mph.... worth a try?
Just remove your numberplate :D
The cameras read you numberplate and display it on a large roadside screen in order to embarass speeding drivers- stop them from doing it again.
Simmilar to the roadside screens in the south of the country that display what speed you are travelling as you approach them.
Money-grabbing idiots
If one political party took a stance to reform the speed camera's and roads in Britain i reckon they would get sooooo many votes from the driving public!! Its a big issue to heart, its got out of hand.
i doubt a cateye based system could ever be used for prosecution by itself, as it cant track a cars distance and provide 2 pictures. besides, installing one means diggint the road up wheras installing a truvato/gatso doesnt..
could maybe be used as part of specs?
i also think it'd be dodgy as you get mud/water distorting the view..
incidentally - has anyone driven down a road with those led cateyes in? the really bright ones? next time ya do, turn your headlights off and just follow the lines.. great feeling (like landing a plane or sommat) :)
or clone your bosses ;) :DQuote:

yeah but then they have truvatos round and they cant nab bikers..
theres a couple of roads nr brighon that have good cateyes - the bit of the a23 (pease pottage) which is really windy and downhill does, and ditchling road just south of the a27..
Always wanted to test the limiter in me motor :DQuote:
