    Sony Vaio pcg-v505cp sound issue

Im going to get straight to it, the laptops audio works in the bios (i can make it beep for instance) so i know the sound card is working but yet it only works every now and then in windows! im using windows vista, is this a problem with vista at all? ive not had xp working on the machine so ive no idea how it worked in that...suggestions on how i should start trying to find the cause fof the problem? thanks!

Re: Sony Vaio pcg-v505cp sound issue

BIOS beep is usually different from a SoundCard beep....check the system hardware setup and try and find the relevant driver? If it's integrated then the Sony site might be a good place to start....

ok...going to have to explain this one lol the beep comes from the speakers that teh sound would come out of, not an onboard speaker either ive made sure of this, ive been to the sony site and belive it or not they not only dont have the sound driver but nor do they have the lan or wireless lan driver for this laptop! very stupid as they have all the other drivers so its causing such a headache at the moment! i have however found the sound card to be a YMF753-S but ive never heard of that and cannot find its driver anywhere lol

    ""edit""

just to update i installed a copy of windows and managed to install the offical driver...worked brillant! then i restarted and it has no sound check out device manager and the audio device is not there!! what could be causing this very weird issue?
