    Text Readability for LCD TVs

Hi, I want to buy a new LCD TV (1080p) and want to connect to a PC/Laptop so that I can read the news and write documents or use spreadsheets, etc. I.e. I want to use it as a TV and a monitor.

I understand previously that text readability is not that good on a LCD TV. However, given it is now 1080p and I will be connecting the computer to the LCD TV via a HDMI connection, should the LCD TV effectively be like a monitor now (other than the fact that the dot-pitch is much greater)?

I just want to make sure I can do what I want with the LCD TV before going ahead to buy it!

    Any help appreciated as always.

720p+ sets are on the whole pretty good at reproducing text, however you will have to be sat somewhat closer than you normally would be just watching tv on my 32" 1080 set I sit about 4ft away to get legible text in a small font, my sofa is about 7ft away from the tv and works if I use larger fonts\dpi settings
