    Michael Foot dies, age 96

Rarely have I seen a politician with whom I can disagree so vehemently, while admiring his total commitment and genuine belief.

To the Labour party, something of an icon I'm sure, despite the "longest suicide note in history" manifesto before the '83 election massacre.

    RIP Mr Foot.

The man was an Orator of legendary status. One of the greats in political speech making.

    R.I.P. indeed.

    R.I.P. indeed.

I have to confess, I thought he'd died some years ago.

He was involved in a serious car accident some years back at a spot I travel past on a fairly regular basis so maybe that's what influenced my thinking.

Always reminded me of an early Doctor Who, William Hartnell. 96 is a good innings. R.I.P.

I couldn't agree more. Although I don't agree with his beliefs, he stood up for what he believed in, and I am sure he will be sorely missed by many in the Labour Party. A true politician. He wrote some interesting books too!

He was one of the few politicians I actually thought was honest....I hope Argyle fight extra hard now to stay up this season, it would be a nice way for them to honour his memory and support.

Yes indeed, which was why as the leader of the labour party, he was not a great success in winning elections - but a great and passionate political orator who could inspire his followers,

gentlemen.. those days of politicians at the top of party politics actualyl intending to do what they say, and being open and honest, seem to have been long gone...

S! Mr Foot.... you and Maggie had a right old scrap and it was nasty and dignified at once.. fair play to you both.
