    phone scam?

    new one for me, i answer the phone to what is obviously meant to sound like a bad line with a voice that just says "hello, hello, can you hear me ?" then cuts off with 07079802421 as the 1471...

    Re: phone scam?

    Google didn't bring anything up, would probably be quite a good scam though but I don't know how much money can be made, if any, from standard mobile numbers?

    Re: phone scam?

    070* numbers are premium rate/re-directs, not mobiles.

    Can't believe they were allowed to be introduced like that, the only reason to use them is to try & trick people so why was it allowed?

    Because Ofcom is a spineless, toothless entity?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Re: phone scam?

    I have known a few people who fell for this scam. So easy to call back to check. I don't suppose everyone realises 070 is a premium rate number. So people with phone contracts with free minutes may call thinking i will coming out of that but it doesn't. Old but a clever scam.
