    Ebay advice needed

I just brought a copy of poliquin principles from ebay, a rare book on strength training and very expensive I brought it at £36.77 and paid £2.75 postage, i thought postage was supposed to be free on books?

The book has arrived today and half the pages have fallen out which I'm not impressed about as the description state, before someone says it i know its used but i would have liked the person to have been honest about the state it was in.

Poliquin Principles' successful methods for strength training and mass development by Charles Poliquin in good used condition. It is offered with a low start price and NO RESERVE

As i have never really used ebay before how do i get about resolving the issue?

The free postage must've been (relatively) short-lived since I had to pay for postage on the few books I bought on ebay in the past, and it's been pulled (replaced by a maximum limit) four weeks ago.

The first thing I would do is to contact the seller and see if you can resolve it amicably.

If you are not happy with the response (or haven't received any), you are open a dispute on eBay or Paypal (look for the 'Resolution Centre' menu under My eBay). If you bought the item from a business seller, Sale of Goods Act may also apply (I'll let others fill in on this ).

You should open a case in the eBay resolution centre: http://resolutioncentre.ebay.co.uk/

If the dispute is resolved in your favour and you paid using PayPal you may be able to get your money back, but as you actually received the item, it may be that all you can do is leave bad feedback.

I've had problems before where I haven't received the item, I think I had to wait 14 days before I could file a dispute and even longer before I got my money back.

You should always be careful when using eBay. I like to think that anyone that has been selling the same/similar items for years with positive feedback is normally trustworthy, but as they say if a deal looks to good to be true - it normally is lol

TBH, sounds like it was a cheaply printed book to start with. The cheapest on Amazon is £65. You could start a dispute and probably get your money back, but could you get a better copy for similar money?

Quite why you want to pay £35 for a 13 year old strength training book is beyond me anyway. I put on over a stone of muscle in 3 months on Stronglifts 5x5. If you're more advanced than me, there's still sites like T-Muscle with hours of reading, and debate, on the latest thinking on muscle hypertrophy.
