Cowon ?
Cowon are good, if a little expensive :)
Sandisk are surprisingly good and cheap - the clip for instance...
Creative are also nice, can be expensive though! You can pick up a 32 gig Zen for fairly cheap now.
I'm still on a Sandisk Sansa e280, and that's been great. That said, I think with any of them you pretty much have to chuck the supplied headphones.
+2 for the Zen. Amazingly easy to work with for syncing files to, I was impressed with the way it integrated with Windows and their supplied software suite.
Although, given the choice, I'd still take my Ipod (30gb video) over a Zen. I'm no apple fanboy, but I love the Ipod.
Sansa have great quality sound, much better than iPod, hate my iPods sound quality compared to little sisters clip
If you really care about sound quality...
Get any of the above mp3 players, take the bundled headphones and chuck them out the window then buy yourself a good pair for at least as much again as you payed for the player.
Another vote for the Sansa (Fuse) great sound quality
Unless......
You bought a sony X series. If you commute on the London Underground or anything equally noisey, they are just the dogs bollocks of small music players.
The active noise canceling works well on the northern line (not very well on the old not DLL thou) and the sound quality is really rather good for in ear headphones. They put my old Sure E2Cs to the side.
+1 for the Sansa Clip from me. Grabbed an 8GB one a year or so back for £24.99 and never looked back. The iPod I had was crap in comparison on sound quality.
Used to have a sansa e280 and the quality was good, but my sony NW-A800 is a little better IMO.
Personally I have always liked the Creative Mp3 players.
Ive got the Sony X Series here. In terms of sound quality it is the best player available because this was my number one concern when I bought it in January. The OLED screen is nice too ;)
The headphones that come with it are aso pretty good too unlike most other mp3 players.
If you want to hear it shine even more though get a better pair of headphones. Im currently using the Shure SE210's.
Let us know how you get on :)
+1 for the x series.
I had a Samsung ypp2 which died but it was insured so I got the 16 gb x series for £50 :D
the headphones are top class but that has always ben the case with Sony devices.
Cowon, sandisk sansa's or Sony X series are the best.
Sandisk offers the best value for money and is at the top in terms of quality, also has expansion slots so buy the cheapest and buy a 8gb micro sd card or something :).
Sony are however the best so far as ive heard but then again are pretty expensive and lack expansion slots which makes it even more expensive when compared to the sandisk range.
