    So I have lost everything, especially annoying as I specially made specially sure that I backed everything up prior to the upgrade.

    Don't start me on iTunes. Piece of junk. The iPod is a good product. The software to sync isn't. Nice of it to tell you the restore failed because the backup is messed up, not while you backed up. Oh no.
