What to do in this situation?
Right well the storys long but basically my mate just got told that some people are gunna attempt to break into my garage and steal my dads GSXR 750 and my 600 along with torching the rest. Im not sure these people will do it (just like they were going to stab me and all that crap a few months ago, long story), but mines not insured as its not used so if they do im screwed.
To help back my side up with say the police if it did happen is there like a place to contact as a heads up? I dont want to waste there time as i still doubt they will do it so calling the police and saying that would waste much time ut i want it on record just so if it does happen i can pin it on them (i know who will be involed).
Also if they did come and try to break in, what grounds have i got in terms of defending it?. cricket bat/knife to far?.
Sounds like a piss take but im more worried that my £2000 bike would be wrote off!!.

Re: What to do in this situation?
Store the bike somewhere else till it blows over?
Also you can only use violence (reasonably) to defend yourself not posessions

Re: What to do in this situation?
Phone the non emergency number for your area, tell them you think there is going to be an attempted theft of your property/criminal damage/arson, and mention the people involved.
They may do nothing, but they may keep an eye on it in case something does happen - Arson is a fairly serious crime, so that should get their attention.
As to protecting it, get it insured. Whether you do, your dad does, doesn't matter. At the end of the day, it is property - not worth getting stabbed over, and especially not worth getting a criminal record over.
Do these people actually know where the garage is?

Re: What to do in this situation?
If I were you I would go to the police and explain your situation. If are genuinely worried that something will happen, then I'm sure the police could give you advice on what to do. A £2000 bike is not worth stabbing someone over, unless you are put in a life threatening situation because of this, don't even think of doing something that stupid.

Re: What to do in this situation?
Funnily enough i cant afford the insurance :P.
And yes, they do know where my house and garage are, will look for that non emergency number now.

Re: What to do in this situation?
would it not be covered under the house insurance? if it's SORN, not insured for highway use, and inside your garage, then it's just a "thing" in your house, with XYZ value surely?
I'd still go to the police and tell them everything you know - and get the original informant to come along as well to back you up. Policemens like corroborating stories...

Re: What to do in this situation?
Of course if they break in to torch a place you're already in, I'd argue that doing just about anything in self defence is legit. Kill the little scrotes!

Re: What to do in this situation?
Set up claymores, take defensive positions.

Re: What to do in this situation?
Give me the bikes till it all blows over:rolleyes:

Re: What to do in this situation?
Who in the right mind would do this and further more then tell someone about it ?

Many people are depressingly stupid.

Re: What to do in this situation?
I agree with Nvening, store the bikes and anything else valuable, until it all blows over, then think about upping the security on the place. A call to the police won't hurt I don't suppose.

eh lol lots of like minded people like that round here.....back to topic,
sounds like your in a bit of a mess, did you tick them of in some way?

Re: What to do in this situation?
If you think they're really serious about it then get a fire extinguisher (something to work against liquid accelerants, foam?). If they want to start a fire then there's nothing (within reason) than you can do to stop them, but if you've got a fire extinguisher to hand you should be able to avoid any serious damage, depending on how fast you are.

Surprisingly, no... I did nothing only they just started threating me, happened a few months ago and thought it was done with (abusive emails/phone calls/texts etc), all cause of my ****e X :D. I dont think id sell my bike as it was a bargin and i will be using it as soon as i can grab some insurance :).
My dad rang up some line and just notified them of it so thats sorted i guess, nothing yet to report :D.
And yes they are stupid, im not suprised though as they failed a basic college course and are low life chavs.
@ Matty, i actually laughed at that :P... its a good idea, do have a scoped rifle and my bedroom window covers the garage.... ideas, i blame the video games tbh! :D.

Well it's a line that Cpt. Price uses in Modern Warfare 2 :P. I think he says it on "Sniper Fi" on the Special Ops.

Talking of home weaponry, I would love to have an invisible rotatable turret on my roof with a fully automatic paintball machine-gun to attack irritating chavs with.

But if you can't afford insurance then you're better off selling it. Doesn't matter what you paid for it, you'll be getting market price when you sell it, and then when you buy the same thing again later you'll still be paying market price. Only time this doesn't work is if the value of the bike is likely to increase, but usually they go down in value, not up.

Re: What to do in this situation?
fair point kal but to be fair ive only seen a few of these and im getting the insurance in a month so wouldnt be worth selling it and rebuying to be honest.

Put the paintballs in the freezer first though.
