Won prize from a stacker machine on 1st January 2010, we chose a gift card. It says on it that its for display only and to claim your pize ring a certain company. Rung up 2 or 3 days later and got through to their "Messaging service" which seems to comprise of real people who apparently take messages when the company is busy. When I said we had won a prize and were wishing to claim at first they asked why I was even ringing them, this didn't fill me with much hope. Nevertheless the polite women took the prize number and details of where I had rung it from and claimed they would get back to us.
After about a month nothing had happened so rung back numerous times and every time got through to this "Messaging service", it seemed to me as if the company in questions never takes calls and shields behind this anonymous group. When I questioned the people on it they seemed to get rather agitated about the matter. This time within 1 minute of leaving the details we got a BT Landline Text from a mobile saying "Congratulations, your prize/order is being processed"
Again nothing happened so rung back few weeks later and repated the same thing again getting a very similar text.
Still nothing has happened 3 months on and seeing as there is apparently no other way of contacting the company I have no idea what to do.Is there any way of forcing contact with the company, contacting some kind of consumer watchdog. I know this seems rather petty but the prize was worth a significant amount of money.
Thanks for any advice
