Is it cheeky to sign up to a 3-year 16-25 railcard at 24 years of age?

Confusing title, but i'm 24 now, and theres an offer for signing up to 3 years worth of the "16-25 railcard" discounts. Would it be cheeky to sign up to that? Do they even check?

Nope, do it! Rail fares are so damn expensive i say go for it!

edit: Though they might ask for a drivers license or some form of ID to back it up?

Nope, not cheaky at all. It is perfectly within the rules. I know many people that have renewed just before they are 26 and then use them. I think the rules are you have to be 25 to get one, not to use one.

You may even wish to get a one year one now and then a three-year one next year.

Precisely. I think I was even encouraged to do this by the attendant.

My railcard runs out 2 months before I turn 27, I didn't even apply for it, my bank sent it to me

What I don't understand is why the the rail transport is so 'blah' despite the high cost. *Currently on a train to Aberdeen and still not impressed by the length of the journey*. Fact that an Englishman invented public rail transportation make this all the more ironic.

    Market forces.

If you have lots of people who want/need to travel and not enough places for them then you can raise prices/degrade service with no negative effect on the bottom line.

cheeky - yes. Something I will do in a years time? Definitely!

Without a railcard it's cheaper to drive to most destinations, and with 2 or 3 people in the car its cheaper to almost anywhere in the country.

    Madness I tell ye!
